Inertia, force of inertia, moment of inertia or even principle of inertia. It is a word in common use but that we find in the scientific field to describe completely banal concepts. Who discovered and described them, it took him some time to figure out how to make everything fit, and whoever studies them sweats it. Of course, he cannot act inertia and wait for them to be clear on their own.
To address the concept of inertia is the first principle of dynamics also called the Newton's first law which states that a body remains in its state of rest or uniform rectilinear motion unless an outside force intervenes to change that status.
